Guidelines for authors
The publication of Entropía. Journal about horror in Spanish and Hispanic American arts, is allocate in electronic format and can be consulted directly from its website. The dissertations must be original and deal with topics related to research in the sphere of art, theory and criticism of terror in Spain and Latin America.
The Entropía Editorial Committee reserves the right to request works from specialists, as well as to reject contributions that do not fit the journal's thematic profile. In case of being accepted, the authors will be notified in order to return the works and incorporate the modifications recommended by the Academic Committee.
Articles
Authors must submit two documents: one of them should include the paper for publication and the other a brief biography of themselves, written in third person (within 100 and 200 words, listing earned degrees, institutional affiliation, notable publications and/or research areas of interest). If the article incorporates images, these should be inserted in the document, in addition to being sent as attached files in PNG or JPG format with high resolution.
Both documents should be in Word format, including the first surname and first name of the author as title. For instance, if Roman Rojas is the author, the files will be named Rojas_Roman.doc and Roman_Rojas_Data.doc, respectively.
Works in Spanish, Portuguese and English will be accepted.
About the article
- Articles should be no more than 20 pages and not less than 10 pages in A4 format, including bibliography.
- All texts shouuse 1.5 line spacing, in Times New Roman as default font.
- The title should be placed on the first line of the document, right-aligned, size 24 and in bold.
- The author's name should be followed by their institutional affiliation on the bottom line, both on the right-hand side of the page and in size 14.
- If there is an epigraph, it should be placed on the right-hand side of the page, size 10 and in italic; their author should have their full name in capital letters.
- The abstract should be within 150-200 words and should use the same language as the article, where it will present the topic, the object of study, the hypothesis, a brief justification and the methodology. It should include up of a maximum of 5 keywords. Both should be 1cm right and left-hand indented, justified and in size 12.
- On the following page, the translation of the title, abstract and keywords should be added, using one of the languages mentioned above (Spanish, Portuguese or English).
- The body of the article should be justified and have a first-line indent of 1 cm.
- The headings should be placed on the left-hand side of the page, size 12 and will take the following rules: Level 1, without indentation and in bold; Level 2, 1 cm indented, in bold and with an end point; Level 3, 1 cm indented, in bold, in italics and with an end point; Level 4, 1 cm indented, not bold, italicized and with an end point.
- Footnotes should be indicated by superscript numerals. The text in them should be justified and in size 10.
- Cites and bibliographical references should follow APA Seventh Edition Citation Style.
Essays
Editorial Team will choose one essay per section (Dossier & Miscellaneous). These texts should serve as an introduction to the corresponding section. For that reason, a critical and interrogative reflection is expected, with free and creative flow of ideas, but not for that reason less rational and methodical. It is hoped to focus on the main issue of the Dossier or another topic linked to horror for the Miscellaneous section.
The texts should follow the article guidelines referred to previously.
Reviews
This section looks at critical and analytical comments, written concisely and avoiding subjectivity. For this reason, it is suggested to review theoretical texts, translations, critical editions, or recently published monographs, pointing out their importance in horror and art studies.
The review should be within 3 to 5 pages in A4 format, Times New Roman as default font, size 12 and with 1.5 line spacing. At the end of the document, the name of the authors and their institutional affiliation should be specified. The title should include information in the order of priority listed below:
Title of the work in italics. Author. City, Country: Publisher, year, number of pages.
